Raymond G. Troester

Raymond G. Troester, 82, of McGregor, passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis. He was born on June 27, 1943, to Louis and Alta (Anderegg) Troester. After completing his education, Raymond proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served his country.

Ida M. (Hanson) Kuntz

Ida Mae (Hanson) Kuntz, 93, was born on the family farm south of Gunder to Otto Hanson and Nellie (Anderson) Hanson on June 23, 1932. She died peacefully in her home in Iowa City on Dec. 2, 2025.

Jeanette Wilker

Jeanette Mildred Laura Wilker, 94 of Clermont, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Emplify Health, West Union. She was born Feb. 13, 1931, to Harvey and Meta (Sass) Sass in Clayton Township, near Monona. She was baptized on March 31, 1931 and confirmed May 20, 1945, both in Monona. She went to Gooding School through eighth grade, and she graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1949. After graduation, she helped her father on the farm.

Northeast Iowa Vietnam Veterans eying Giard location for memorial


The Northeast Iowa Vietnam Veterans Association is eying a location along U.S. Highway 18, at Giard, to honor Vietnam War veterans. The veterans are proposing to erect two shelters on the site, one of which would store and display the association’s Vietnam War memorial float, which honors area veterans who died in the war. Now in the second year of a boys wrestling co-op between Central and Edgewood-Colesburg, the partnership between the schools has “worked out better than anyone anticipated,” said head coach Joe Koehn.
