Hawkettes second at regional, 

earn trip to state competition

On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Prairie du Chien Hawkette Dance Team attended the WACPC Southern Dance Regional Competition held at Watertown High School. The team competed in two divisions in hopes of advancing to state. The girls placed second in the Division 4 Pom category and second in the Division 2 Kick category, allowing them to advance on to state in both divisions.

Prairie boys cruise 

past Richland Center

Prairie du Chien handily defeated visiting Richland Center 72-55 in an SWC boys basketball game Friday night. 

The Blackhawks used an effective press and also went deep into their roster to earn their 14th victory of the season against only 2 losses.

Prairie built a 41-18 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.

The PdC-WS grapplers traveled to Monroe on Saturday, Jan. 23 for the Monroe 11-Team Invitational. As a team, the Blackhawks finished second with 183.5 points, just behind the 193 points scored by host Monroe.

Seneca overwhelmed visiting La Farge with its 3-point shooting as well as its inside play to gain a Ridge and Valley boys basketball victory 75-42 Friday night. 

Seneca improved to 11-1 on the season and 7-0 in conference action. La Farge fell to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the Ridge and Valley.

The Hawkettes are on a roll

On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Prairie du Chien Hawkette Dance Team attended the Sparta Dance Invitational held at Sparta High School.  

The team competed in three dance categories. The girls earned a third-place trophy in their jazz division, a second-place trophy in their pom division, and a first-place trophy in their kick division! 

The girls also earned a huge trophy for having the highest team score overall at the competition!

PdC-WS grapplers win over Dodgeville on Senior Night

On Tuesday, Jan. 12, Prairie du Chien played host for a conference dual against a strong Dodgeville team. It was also Senior Night. 

Coach Jason Thiry took a few minutes before the meet to honor and recognize the seniors for all of their time and dedication to the great sport of wrestling. Senior wrestlers are Clayton Beers, Peyton Hall, Brendan Fleshner, and Tyler Cota. Senior managers are Kelsey Hebel and Vanessa Wright.

River Ridge beats Shullsburg

River Ridge beat visiting Shullsburg 46-36 in a Western Six Rivers girls basketball game Thursday night. 

River Ridge was behind early in the first half but came back to lead at halftime 24-20. River Ridge took the second half 22-16. 

Bridgette Myers paced the Lady Timberwolves with a game high 15 points. Sierra Schier and Amber Patterson each netted 8.
