The Ridge & Valley Conference recently announced their Volleyball All-Conference Teams for the 2024 season with several selections from Seneca and Wauzeka-Steuben. 
Named to the first team for Seneca was senior Kylie Chambers and sophomore Addison Davidson. The conference also named Davidson the Ridge & Valley Conference Setter of the Year.
Seneca senior Skylette Gilbertson earned second team all-conference honors while seniors Kiley Manning of Wauzeka-Steuben and Ava Sime of Seneca were named to the honorable mention team. Named to the league’s sportsmanship team were seniors Maya Buffington (Seneca) and Sophia Walz (Wauzeka-Steuben).

The Seneca Royals boys basketball team started their 2024-25 season on Tuesday, Nov. 26 by hosting the Riverdale Chieftains and came away with a 67-30 victory.

River Ridge boys stop Golden Eagles

Second-year head coach Jim Wagner and his River Ridge boys basketball team look poised for success during the 2024-25 season, which they kicked off last Tuesday night at Fennimore.
With three starters and a number of bench players returning this season, the Timberwolves handily defeated the host Golden Eagles, 52-31, in last Tuesday night’s season opener.

River Ridge girls handle Fennimore

Coach Veronica Zinkle and her River Ridge girls basketball team upped their season record to 2-0 last Monday evening with a 46-23 non-conference victory over visiting Fennimore.
The Timberwolves took control early in the contest, holding a halftime lead of 24-12, then outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-11 in the second half to secure the victory.

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks Girls Basketball team kicked off their 2024–25 season this past Friday night when they faced the La Crosse Logan Rangers. 
The Hawks jumped out to a 44-15 lead at halftime, before holding the Rangers to just eight points in the second half. PdC cruised to a 68-23 win.

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association announced their 2024 Large and Small School All-State Teams before the start of the WIAA State Football Championship games.
Prairie du Chien players Blake Thiry and Jack Simmons were honored by the organization.
The WFCA named Thiry the Small School Offensive Player of the Year. It is thought that Thiry is the first athlete from Prairie du Chien High School to earn a state player of the year award in any sport.

The Seneca Royals girls basketball team opened the 2024–25 season on Tuesday, Nov. 19, under new head coach Jared Payne at Cashton. 
The Eagles spoiled the party when they defeated the Royals 67-11. Final stats were not available as of press time. 
The Royals returned home two nights later when they welcomed Riverdale to town.

Hornets split pair of games

Kicking off the 2024-25 season last Tuesday, Nov. 19, at home, the Wauzeka-Steuben girls basketball team welcomed the Southwestern Wildcats to town for a non-conference contest. 
The Hornets opened their season with a 36-9 halftime lead over the visitors from Hazel Green before earning a 60-31 win.

River Ridge girls win opener

Behind a balanced scoring attack, the River Ridge girls basketball team began the 2024-25 season with a 38-21 non-conference victory over visiting De Soto last Thursday night.
Returning a wealth of talent that includes five seniors, three of which have been on varsity since their freshman year, coach Veronica Zinkle enters her fifth season as head coach with an abundance of experienced athletes.

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks football team entered this past Friday night’s Division Five State Semifinal matchup against two-time defending D6 state champion Stratford on an 11-game winning streak. The Hawks were looking to return to the state championship game for the first time since 1988. The Tigers entered the game having won each of their last ten semifinal games (their last semifinal loss came in 2001) and their last 24 games overall.
