Regional champ 

Hawkettes headed to state

The Prairie du Chien Hawkettes competed at the 2017 WACPC Southern Dance Regional Competition on Saturday, Jan. 28.  

The team earned second place in Division 2 Kick. The team also earned first place in Division 4 Pom, making them the Southern Regional champions. The girls are advancing to state next weekend in both divisions.

River Ridge easily topped visiting Highland 56-23 in a make-up girls basketball game Tuesday night. 

The Lady Timberwolves built a 25-8 halftime advantage en route to the victory. 

River Ridge improved to 11-2 on the season and 5-2 in conference action. Highland fell to 3-9 overall and 0-7 in the Six Rivers West.

Wauzeka-Steuben nipped visiting De Soto 69-66 in double overtime Thursday night in a Ridge and Valley boys basketball game. 

The Hornets improved to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action. 

De Soto fell to 6-4 on the season and 2-3 in the Ridge and Valley.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team traveled to Merrill High School for a 19-team scramble. The Blackhawks finished in second place as a team with 392 points behind Sun Prairie’s 498.5 points.

PdC gymnasts host Dodge-Point

Dodge-Point defeated host Prairie du Chien 123.1-94.175 in SWC gymnastics action Monday night on Parents Night. 

Elizabeth Woltz scored a 7.0 on the vault, 2.7 on the uneven parallel bars, 5.1 on the floor exercise, and 4.3 on the beam for an all around total of 19.1. 

Madyson Boxrucker got a 7.7 on the vault, 5.375 on the bars, 5.9 on the floor, and a 5.1 on the beam for a total of 24.075.

Hawks 

hold off Dodgers

Prairie du Chien got hot from the 3-point line late in the first half to surge to a 41-26 halftime lead, but Dodgeville came storming back to take the second half 39-26 as the Blackhawks held on for a 67-65 win in SWC boys basketball Friday night in Prairie du Chien. 

Prairie improved to 3-0 in conference action while Dodgeville fell to 2-2.
