Paul Richard Reinke, 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, due to a prolonged illness. 

He was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Elgin, Ill., which sealed his lifelong love for Da Bears, the Cubbies, and Chicago-style hot dogs.

Elaine O. DuCharme

Elaine O. DuCharme, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019. 

She was born on Dec. 24, 1939, in Eastman, the daughter of Paul and Tekla (Spalla) DuCharme. 

Elaine worked for the state of Wisconsin in many departments and retired in 1997 from a research unit at the University of Wisconsin. She enjoyed all outside activities whether it was kayaking, biking, golfing, pickleball or gardening. Whenever possible, she loved to travel and enjoyed many trips in the U.S. and overseas (some by bicycle). 

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Foley; and many nieces and nephews.

Nathan A. 'Nate' Wachter

Nathan A. “Nate” Wachter, 27, of Mt. Hope, died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. 

He was born Oct. 13, 1991, the son of Thomas and Lisa (Kriz) Wachter. 

Nate was currently working with his father in the family logging business. He worked for Findorf Concrete, of Madison, prior to that. Nate was a proud father and loved to tinker with things, he was able to fix about anything.

Teri Ann Marie Williams, 73, of Bagley, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at UW Madison Hospital. 

She was born on May 27, 1946, at Dr. Houghton’s Hospital in Lancaster, daughter of Adam J. and Marie (Ackerman) Kirschbaum.

Linda L. Sheckler

Linda L. Sheckler, 69, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Gundersen Healthcare in La Crosse. 

She was born Sept. 1, 1950, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Edwin and Luella (Gerardy) Hamann. 

She married James Sheckler on Sept. 21, 1968, in Prairie du Chien. Linda worked at Althof’s Television Center for 16 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James, of Prairie du Chien; her son, Jeffery, of Prairie du Chien; her brother, Edwin (Carol) Hamann, of Mukwonago; and two grandchildren Hunter and Haylee. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Patricia M. “Pat” Langmeier, 89, of Patch Grove and Prairie du Chien, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, with her loving family by her side at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on July 10, 1930, in Tennyson, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Wallenhorst) Walsh.

Barbara C. Stuckey

Barbara C. Stuckey, 65, of Eastman, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. 

She was born Dec. 28, 1953, in Wauzeka, the daughter of Orville and Dorothy (Onstine) Harvat. She married Robert Stuckey on June 17, 1972. Together, they farmed in the Eastman area and Barbara also worked at Miniature Precision Components in Prairie du Chien. Barb was affectionately known as Grandma and “Big Mama.” She loved her dog P.J. and watching birds, especially hummingbirds.

Clarice Olga Balk

Clarice Olga Balk, 92, of Eastman, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. She was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Lynxville, the daughter of Soren and Bertha (Fortney) Torger. 

She was married to Howard Clarke who preceded her in death. She was then married to Ed Fisher who preceded her in death. Later, Clarice married Lyman Balk, who also preceded her in death. She worked at Hidden Valley Lodge in Prairie du Chien and later became the “voice” of Wal-Mart, where she worked in various departments over the years until her retirement. Clarice was an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Robert 'Bob' Erdenberger

Robert “Bob” Earl Erdenberger, 91, of Prairie du Chien, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.  

Robert Earl was born May 20, 1928, to Elmer and Mildred (Zabel) Erdenberger in Prairie du Chien.  

He graduated high school from Prairie du Chien.  Robert proudly joined and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.  Bob was united in marriage with Mercedes Koecke in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1951.  They later divorced.  Bob worked for National Decorated Metal for 18 years in Prairie du Chien and at Johnson Gas and Appliance Company as a painter.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and V.F.W. in Prairie du Chien.  Bob enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, being outdoors and, in his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating.  He was a CB and Ham Radio Operator.
