Emma Jean Wall

 

Emma Jean Wall, 87, of Platteville and formerly of Eastman passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the SW Health Care Center in Platteville. 

She was born Oct. 17, 1927 in Wauzeka, the daughter of Frederick and Mabel (Maxwell) Borth. She married Mitchell Wall on Nov. 9, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006. They farmed in the Eastman area until 1978, later retiring and moving to Seneca. Emma loved gardening and was renowned for her beautiful flowers.

Roberta M. Marfilius

 

Roberta M. Marfilius, 79, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, Jan. 12, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital. 

She was born July 15, 1935 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Robert and Carmen (Campbell) Gillitzer. She married Lyle Marfilius on May 5, 1954 at St. Gabriel’s Church. She and her husband farmed in rural Prairie du Chien and were active members of St. Gabriel’s Parish. Roberta was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family.

Eugene J. Ackerman

 

Eugene J. Ackerman, 82, of Daytona Beach and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, Jan. 12, at the Florida Hospital in Daytona Beach. 

He was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Glen Haven, the son of John and Alvina (Krogman) Ackerman. He married Mary Lou Ingham on Jan. 3, 1953 in Madison. They were eternally devoted to one another, living their marriage vows every day of their lives; and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary just last week.

Richard (Dick) Aschom

 

A former Lansing resident, Richard (Dick) Aschom, 73, passed away Jan. 9 at his home in Brookfield after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons Stephen and Chris and one daughter, Melissa and several grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Norb of Prairie du Chien and Mickey of Rushford, Minn.; and three sisters Kathy Christopherson of La Crosse, Susan Ekern of Rushford and Julie Buel of Florida.

Funeral services are Wednesday, Jan. 14 in New Berlin, Wis.

Norma J. Erdenberger

 

Norma J. Erdenberger, 83, of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital.

She was born April 29, 1931 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Irvin and Emma (Rubel) Walz. Norma was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Prairie du Chien. She married Jack Erdenberger on Nov. 5, 1952 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1992. She and her husband farmed in rural Prairie du Chien for many years. Norma was a volunteer caregiver for many people throughout this community and was a proud past recipient of the Danny Ruehlow Award.

Fay L. McCullick

 

Fay L. McCullick, 95, of Wauzeka passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital. 

He was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Seneca, the son of Charles and Sadie (Comstock) McCullick. He served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre where he was the recipient of four Bronze Stars. He married Dorothy Eckleberry on June 20, 1945 and she later preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2004. Fay worked as a heavy equipment operator for Becker and Tuckwood Construction in Lancaster. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with his family. He was a member of the Wauzeka American Legion and was proud to have taken the Honor Flight with his son this past May.

Bonnie Belle Cull

 

Bonnie Belle Cull, 91, Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital, Viroqua. 

Bonnie was born on Feb. 24, 1923, on a farm in Grant County, near Bloomington, to John and Nina Belle (Brodt) Harris. She attended Military Ridge Country School in Patch Grove Township through the eighth grade where she won a local spelling bee competition at the state level.

Daniel Eugene Hird

 

Daniel Eugene Hird, 56, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born on May 9, 1958 to Eugene and Delores (Coy) Hird in Boscobel. He attended Boscobel High School. 

Daniel worked for Lynch Livestock as a truck driver for 34 years. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club, Aerie #1502 in Prairie du Chien.
