Ervin Stanley Walker, 99, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Seneca, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

He was born on May 22, 1917, to Raymond and Mildred Walker, of Homer. Ervin Walker married Gertrude Adams on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa. Bill and Ardyth Adams were their witnesses. Bill was Gertrude’s brother, and Ardyth was Ervin’s sister. Bill and Ardyth were also married. In 1993, Gertrude passed away. Ervin married Laura Elliot in 1997.

Kathryn F. “Kay” Kramer, 93, of Prairie du Chien, WI, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Hubbard Care Center. 

Kathryn Faye (Shaw) Kramer was born on Jan. 22, 1923, in Dodgeville. She graduated from Prairie du Chien Public School with the class of 1940. On June 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Eldon “Bud” Kramer in Prairie du Chien. Kay worked at 3M for eighteen years before enjoying a lengthy retirement.

Linda L. Munz-Kline, 53, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 5, at her home. 

She was born Oct. 15, 1962, in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Francis and Colleen (Douglas) Munz. Linda attended West Grant High School and later graduated from Southwest Technical School with a degree in accounting. She was most recently working as an over the road truck driver for Swift Transportation. She enjoyed shooting pool and riding motorcycles.

Clifford G. Jahnke, age 84, died on Monday morning Oct. 3, at his residence in Fennimore. 

Clifford was born on July 26, 1932, in Lancaster, the son of Milan and Velma (Wenzel) Jahnke. He married Ruby Braudt on August 12, 1956, at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.

Colette Marcella Sandleback

Colette Marcella Sandleback, 93, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Oct. 2, at Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Seneca and was the daughter of Francis and Orella (Cox) Layde. She married Louis Elmer Sandleback on Sept. 25, 1946, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1985. She has been retired for many years but she worked as a bookkeeper for a local business, Midwest Speaker, in McGregor, Iowa; One Hour Martinizing; the Gingerbread House; and the Pilot House, all in Prairie du Chien. Colette had also been an active member of St. Gabriel’s Church.

Herbert “Herb” Joseph Schneider

Herbert “Herb” Joseph Schneider, 87 of rural Prairie du Chien, beloved husband of Helen (Lenzendorf) for 61 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Prairie Mason Nursing Facility. 

Herb was born on Sept. 19, 1929, the third son to his parents Anthony Magdalena Schneider who resided near Bloomington, on the farm they were renting at the time of his birth. He was baptized, made his first communion, and was confirmed at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. As a young child he attended Hazen Country School and graduated from Wauzeka High School  where he enjoyed athletics and participated in baseball and basketball.

John T. “Jack” Syvrud

John T. “Jack” Syvrud, age 81, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 30. 

He was born on April 25, 1935, in Monroe, the son of John “Ted” and Margie Syvrud. Jack graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1955. He moved to Madison in 1961, where he worked for Madison Metro for 30 years.

Joni Kay Welke, age 45, of Chippewa Falls died Tuesday, Sept. 27, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. 

She was born on July 22, 1971, in Prairie du Chien, to Jon and Carol (Nelson) Burlingame. She grew up there and graduated from Prairie du Chien Senior High School in 1989.
