Georgina M. Mullikin

Georgina M. Mullikin, 88, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.

She was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Wauzeka, the daughter of John and Grace (Mills) Emery. She married Clifford Mullikin on Sept. 16, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1998. Georgina enjoyed sewing and loved making doll dresses.

Kenneth L. Cornford

Kenneth L. Cornford, 83, of Beloit, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 2, in his home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Prairie du Chien, the son of John B. and Marcella J. (Valley) Cornford. Ken was a 1952 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ken married Lois Bouzek on Jan. 19, 1955, in Prairie du Chien.

Harold Siegele

Harold Siegele, 80, of Prairie du Chien, died Thursday, Aug. 2, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.

Harold was born on Aug. 25, 1937, in McGregor, Iowa, the son of Harry and Anna Marie (Carlson) Siegele. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1955. Harold joined and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Harold was united in marriage with Janet Tippery. Two children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. He was then united in marriage with Diane Heuser-Selvester. Harold worked as a butcher at Piggly Wiggly and also at 3M for twenty plus years before retiring.

Linda J. Lessard

Linda J. Lessard, 69, of Muscoda and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, at Gracious Way Assisted Living in Muscoda.

She was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Jones) Lessard. Linda owned and operated the Maytag Laundromat and at the HiWay Grill, both in Prairie du Chien. She loved her nieces and nephews. 

She is survived by her brothers, James (Leanne) Lessard, of Wauzeka, and Mark (Sharon) Lessard, of Horicon. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Howard E. Dalton

Howard E. Dalton, 87, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Seneca, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, after a brief illness. 

Funeral services will be held graveside on Friday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Gays Mills Cemetery in Gays Mills, with a luncheon to follow.  The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.

Edna Moeller (Ready)

Edna Moeller (Ready), 92, of La Farge, passed away on July 28, at her daughter's home in Waukesha.

She was born on July 14, 1926, in Eastman to Alvin and Elnora (Kramer) Ready. She attended Eastman State Graded School and graduated from Wauzeka High School. She married Willard Moeller on Dec. 7, 1945, and they moved to his family’s farm on Swatek Ridge where they lived until 1980. They moved to their retirement hobby farm near La Farge after that. Edna worked for a short time at Gudgeon’s and also volunteered at the Kickapoo Haven Nutrition Center. She eventually became head cook and manager, enjoying her work until her retirement at age 80.

Iola M. Petersen

Iola M. Petersen, 83, passed away Friday, July 27, at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

She was born on the family farm near Elkader, Iowa, to Rudy and Dorothy (Orr) Kainz and was the third eldest of 10 children. Iola had an early love of learning and she was allowed to accompany her older sister to school at the tender age of four, where she could often be found on the teacher’s lap absorbing it all. 

That love of learning turned into a passion for teaching. Iola attended the Iowa State Teachers College, where she majored in mathematics and minored in physics. There she also met the love of her life Dale F. Petersen.

Dean A. Cornford

Dean A. Cornford, 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, at Rock Haven Nursing Home. 

He was born in Prairie du Chien on Oct. 18, 1936, the son of John and Marcella (Valley) Cornford. He attended St. Gabriel Catholic School in Prairie du Chien and graduated from Prairie High School in 1954. As a teenager he spent his summers working in Waunakee at a pea cannery. After graduating from high school Dean moved to Janesville to work at General Motors and retired as a general supervisor. He married Janice R. Shaffer on June 23, 1956, in Prairie du Chien.

Howard A. Hauboldt

Howard A. Hauboldt, 80, of Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Milwaukee, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 23, at his home. 

He was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Milwaukee, the son of Herman and Helen (Guzda) Hauboldt. He served in the U.S. Navy following the Korean Conflict. Howard became a law enforcement officer for the City of Brookfield, in 1961 where he served until his retirement in 1997. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed corvettes, raising horses and was an avid boater and motorcyclist. He was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Policeman’s Association and the National Rifle Association.
