Roland E. Doerring

Roland Edward Doerring, 89, of Elkader, formerly of Garnavillo, died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Elkader Care Center, surrounded by the love of his three daughters. Roland was born Sept. 9, 1932, on the rural Luana farm of his parents Arno and Bernadine (Brandtman) Doerring. He was baptized Dec. 3, 1932, and confirmed April 14, 1946, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Roland attended the Luana Consolidated School through the eighth grade and then stayed at home helping his parents on the family farm.

Virginia L. Faktor

Virginia Faktor passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at her home in Littleton, Colo. She was 98. A private funeral service will be held at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Plymouth Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family of Virginia Faktor memorial fund. Gerald E. "Bud" Miller

Gerald Eugene “Bud” Miller, 82, of Elkader, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Bud was born on Aug. 26, 1939, in Elkader, to Harold and Inez (Behrens) Miller. He served in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Ariz.

Neil L. Burckart

Neil Leonard Burckart, of Lake Cormorant, Miss., passed away at the age of 84 on Tuesday, June 2, 2022, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Miss. He was the son of Leonard and Merna Burckart of Marquette, born at Waukon on Sept. 29, 1937. He attended Mar-Mac School in McGregor and graduated in 1956. After graduation, he entered the Navy as a deep sea diver. While serving in the Navy, he went to northern California to work with his uncle doing construction. He later moved to Sonora, Calif., where he developed many projects while he lived there.

Alex J. Heller

 Alex James Heller, 33, of Waukon, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at his residence in Waukon. He was born Jan. 11, 1989, in Guttenberg, to Timothy and Dawn (Rufenacht) Heller. Alex lived at Woodward in Des Moines for a number of years then moved to his current residence, the Mosaic, in Waukon, where he resided for the past seven years. He truly enjoyed his home and loved all of his staff and caretakers.
