Visitation will be held from 8 – 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Buena Vista. Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:30 a.m. with inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Kwaku Ameyaw will officiate with Deacon Jim Pfaffly assisting.

Jean Genevra Zittergruen, 95, of Garber, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Lincolnwood Assisted Living in Edgewood surrounded by her family.

Celebration of life was Tuesday, April 7, at St. Patrick Catholic Church Parish Center in Colesburg.

Private inurnment was at Mount Harmony Cemetery, rural Garber.

Mary Agnes (Budweg) Rewoldt, 99 and 9 months, died peacefully at Hillcrest Living in Sumner, on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Visitation was Friday, April 3, at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Tripoli and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frederika.

James Michael Kann, 78, of Garnavillo, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his family.

Visitation was Sunday, March 29, at Morris Funeral Home in Garnavillo, and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, March 30, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo, conducted by Rev. Paul Kwaku Ameyaw, and Deacon Jim Pfaffy.

Donald Emil Niosi, 82, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Punta Gorda, Fla. Born on July 16, 1943, in Rockville Centre, N.Y., he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was marked by devotion to his family.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he pursued a career in Engineering. Donald worked with various companies, notably contributing to the design of John Deere mowers for golf courses, landscape equipment and tractors. He earned his name on multiple patents. He spent most of his career at RFA Engineering in Minneapolis, Minn.

A private burial will be held at Hansel Cemetery in Garber, with a celebration of life on April 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Anchor Inn.

Raymond F. Nitzki, 90, died quietly at his home in Lemont, Ill. with family at his bedside on March 9, 2026.

He was a long time resident of Abel’s Island and an avid hunter and fisherman. Ray was service on the Navy on the USS Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary and a big family of over 40 immediate descendants.

JoAnn Crystal Monroe, 91, of Guttenberg died Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Guttenberg Hospital, surrounded by family.

Visitation was Monday, March 9, at the Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Ossian.

Graveside services followed the visitation at Pleasant View Cemetery in Castalia, conducted by Rev. Daryl Schultz.

Roger Dean Butz, 89, of Guttenberg, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, with his loving wife by his side.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:15 a.m., on Saturday, March 21, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg.

Funeral Services will commence at 11:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Guttenberg. Burial will follow at Ceres Cemetery with military honors accorded. Rev. Neil Hofer will officiate. A Luncheon will follow services at United Methodist Church basement.
