Traffic patterns shift as McGregor Main Street construction moves to next stage


Seventh Street, from C Street to Garnavillo Avenue, was closed to traffic last week, as phase two of the McGregor Main Street Reconstruction Project moved to its next stage. Those entering McGregor from the Great River Road/Walton Street will now be directed onto C Street for a short detour in order to reach downtown. This route is only for cars, SUVs and standard sized trucks.

Monona Scouts apply to pilot program to merge boys, girls units

The Monona Scout House was once a schoolhouse that was moved from B45 into town. The building sits on property owned by the city of Monona an is used for meetings and to store equipment.

Shepherd of the Hills has organized its Back to School Drive, providing school supplies for families in need, since the 1980s. This year’s goal was to fill 350 backpacks.

Art in the Park Fine Art Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Founders’ Park, Elkader, this weekend. The festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and offers free admission and parking.
