Contractor Portzen Construction has been working to provide more downtown accessibility and parking. Although the boat launch remains closed due to construction, access to the McGregor riverfront—from the Kwik Star parking lot, past the public restrooms and over the railroad tracks—was restored before Memorial Day weekend. Both pedestrians and smaller vehicles can get there now and park in the lot next to Big Buoy’s Tiki Bar. (Photo by Audrey Posten)

Iowa Department of Transportation signage, placed with input from the city of McGregor, helps direct visitors coming off the highway and into McGregor. “Visit McGregor” signs recently commissioned by the Mar-Mac chamber have been sprinkled throughout Marquette and along the detour route to further guide motorists.
