On Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 12:58 p.m., the Crawford County Dispatch Center was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 61 at Wheatville Road in Scott Township, Mount Zion.
Carl Maly, 86, Muscoda, died on Aug. 11 from injuries sustained in the accident.
According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Maly was driving a 2006 Ford Freestar van south on Highway 61. He attempted to turn left into a driveway. When doing so, he turned into the path of a northbound 2002 Jeep Wrangler driven by Wendy Burkholder, 46, rural Gays Mills.
Burkholder and Maly both sustained injuries and were taken by ambulance to a Boscobel hospital.
Burkholder was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Maly was flown by Med-Link Air to a Madison hospital for a possible head injury.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
