The W-S senior class trip to New York City was an unforgettable experience filled with iconic sights, rich history and incredible food. From the moment we arrived, the energy of the city was nonstop.
We kicked things off with the Big Bus Tour, which gave us a full view of Manhattan and helped us take in the scale and excitement of the city. Seeing landmarks from the top of the bus was the perfect way to get oriented and appreciate everything New York has to offer.
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge was a highlight for many, with amazing views of the skyline and a chance to experience one of the city’s most famous landmarks up close. We also explored Little Italy, where students enjoyed authentic dishes and a true taste of New York culture.
A powerful and meaningful stop on our trip was the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It allowed everyone to reflect, learn, and pay respect to those impacted, making it one of the most impactful moments of the trip.
We also visited some of New York’s most beautiful and historic landmarks, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity Church, where students were able to appreciate the architecture, history and significance of these iconic places.
A visit to Grand Central Terminal showcased the city’s timeless elegance and energy, while a trip to the Empire State Building gave us another breathtaking perspective of the skyline.
The group experienced even more of the city’s top attractions, including a visit to the Edge, where we stepped out onto one of the highest outdoor sky decks in the world for incredible views. We also spent time at the U.S.S. Intrepid, exploring the historic aircraft carrier and learning about its role in American history. A relaxing stop at Little Island offered a unique green space and a chance to take in the city from a different perspective.
One of the biggest highlights of the trip was attending the Broadway production of The Lion King. The performance was outstanding and gave students a true taste of New York’s world-famous theater scene. Additionally, some students had the opportunity to attend a second Broadway show, Hamilton, making their theater experience even more memorable.
We also spent time in the heart of the city at Rockefeller Plaza, even catching a glimpse of the Today Show in action, which added an exciting, real-time connection to a nationally recognized broadcast. Heading up to the Top of the Rock at night provided a breathtaking view of the city as it glistened under the lights — truly a moment none of us will forget.
Another exciting experience for the group was attending a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. The atmosphere was electric and gave students a chance to be part of the city’s passionate sports culture.
We also enjoyed some classic New York experiences, including a meal at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where the talented singing servers made for a fun and lively atmosphere. Visits to the Plaza and the legendary Hard Rock Cafe added to the experience, along with seeing the Charging Bull and walking through Wall Street, where we got a glimpse into the financial heartbeat of the country.
This trip was an incredible mix of fun, learning, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The group represented our school and community well and made many memories that will last a lifetime.
