Five Central/Ed-Co wrestlers place at John Byers Invite

Five Central/Ed-Co wrestlers worked their way onto the podium at the Jan. 24 John Byers Invitational at Midland.

 

The best finish—third place—came from 165-pound Colton Hoisington. Teammates Eddie DeShaw (126 pounds), Nolan Gaul (138) and Parker Funke (150) were all fifth in their respective weight classes. Jamison Feickert finished the tournament sixth at 120 pounds.

 

Tallen Mormann (120), Kinnick Robbins (132), Zane Embretson (175) and Kayden Williams (215) did not place.

 

Central/Ed-Co put up 84.5 points, placing ninth as a team. West Branch won the team title with 268.5 points, followed by Cedar Rapids Prairie at 190.5.

 

The team will host Anamosa, North Linn and Lancaster, Wis., for duals on Thursday, Jan. 29, before wrestling at the Upper Iowa Conference tournament at New Hampton on Saturday, Jan. 31.
