Richard Arlen Crogan

August 14, 1937–January 18, 2026

Richard Arlen Crogan, 88, of Gays Mills passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 at his home. 

He was a man who was strong in his faith. He was born on Aug. 14, 1937, the son of Alvin and Dora (Hagen) Crogan. He graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1956. While in high school he was proud to have been a member of the baseball team that went to state back when there were no divisions – playing schools of all sizes. 

A proud member of “The Kickapoo Kids.” He married Anna Marie McCullick on June 1,1963 at the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. She proceeded him in death in 2017. 

They have one daughter, Lisa (Jay) Greene, and two granddaughters, Ashley Greene and Nicole Greene (Ryan Stellner). He was very proud of them. 

Richard was a farmer which started during his childhood.  He farmed on the family farm of his parents and grandparents for most of his life.  He continued to do field work for others for many years after retirement.  His other passions in life included cars, motorcycles, and sports. 

He loved to share the long history of the cars and motorcycles that he had owned, but his biggest passion was sports.  He loved baseball which he could be found watching all summer long.  His favorite winter pastime was attending North Crawford High School basketball games. For many years he hardly missed a game.   Recently he had scaled down to just home games. 

He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Jay) Greene of Gays Mills; granddaughters Ashley Greene of Seneca, WI and Nicole (Ryan Stellner) Greene of Oshkosh, WI; two brother-in-laws, Wayne (Nancy) McCullick of Elroy, WI and John (Linda) McCullick of Mt. Sterling, WI; three sister-in-laws, Mary (Ken) Applegate of Milton, Judy McCullick of Stoddard and Dixie McCullick of Seneca; many nieces and nephews; and his good friends from his Hardees Breakfast Club.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Marie (McCullick) Crogan; one brother, Eli Crogan, and one sister, Elizabeth Crogan; two sister-in-laws, Arlene Jordan and Karen Crogan; three brother-in-laws, Alan McCullick, Donald McCullick, and Dennis Jordan. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, at Utica Lutheran Church, Mt. Sterling.  Burial followed in the Utica Lutheran Church cemetery. Visitation was held on  Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
