Jackie “Jack” Charles Beem

November 13, 1940–January 10, 2026

Jackie “Jack” Charles Beem, 85 of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Jan. 10, 2026, at the Waverly Health Center.

Jack was born on Nov. 13, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Carroll and Grayce (DeWitt) Beem. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Grayce and Raymond Ball. He attended school in Shell Rock and graduated from Shell Rock High School in May of 1959.

In November of 1959, Jack entered the United States Navy where he was stationed at Port Hueneme, California, later serving the aboard the U.S.S. Nereus in San Diego. Jack was honorably discharged in November of 1963 and returned to Shell Rock.

Jack was united in marriage to Carol Price in November of 1964, and the couple was later divorced. To this union, three children were born, Bradley, Richard and Susanne.

Jack worked for Carnation in Waverly and during that time served as a substitute rural mail carrier. Once the mail carrier position became available, Jack started full time as a rural mail carrier for the Shell Rock Post office, retiring in 2000.

Jack volunteered with the Shell Rock Fire Department, was a certified Master Scuba Diver and was a member of the Shell Rock American Legion. As an avid walleye fisherman, he enjoyed many days fishing on the Mississippi River while living in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Jack is survived by a son, Richard (Jessica) Beem of Waunakee, Wisconsin; a daughter, Susanne (Jason) Deike of Shell Rock and a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Beem of Waverly; five grandchildren, Trevor “T.J.” Beem, Abigail Beem, Logan Beem, Jacob Deike, and William Deike; a great granddaughter, Ember Beem; a sister, Vickie (Paul) Barth of Waverly; and his very good friend, Marge George.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Julie (Gary) Holiday and a half-sister, Carolyn Stammeyer; a daughter, Brigitte Beem from a previous marriage and a son, Bradley Beem.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 16,2026 at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock. Private burial of cremains will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
