The Prairie du Chien and Wauzeka-Steuben Cross Country teams ran in the 2025 Prairie du Chien Invitational last Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Prairie du Chien Country Club.

 

The boys race saw Prairie du Chien finish in fifth place out of 13 teams with 119 points, though the Hawks actually finished in a tie for fourth place with Argyle/Pecatonica but lost the tiebreaker to A/P. The Hornet boys team placed eighth with 188 points. 

 

Prairie du Chien senior Sam Kramer was the leading individual finisher among all three teams as he finished the race second overall in a time of 17:34.9, a little over three seconds behind champion Cooper Powell of Brookwood. Sophomore Landon Smith was the second top-10 finisher for the Hawks, placing ninth in a time of 18:47. Junior Nolan Reed-Mullikin was the Hornets top runner, finishing in 15th place in a time of 19:06.

 

The Hawks got a third top-20 individual finish from junior Lane Henderson, who finished 17th overall in a time of 19:13. Also running for Prairie du Chien were Kaden Kvamme in 41st (20:50), Joey Kramer in 50th (22:36), Caleb Mezera in 51st (23:26) and Carter Neis in 55th (22:27). Running on JV was Matthew Kramer (15th place in 23:37), Finnian Stafford-Johnson (25th place in 26:57.4) and Drew Becwar (26th place in 26:57.5).

 

Placing after Reed-Mullikin for the Hornet boys were Cody Wagner in 28th place (20:06), Wyatt Mullikin in 39th place (20:36), Theo Millin in 53rd place (24:01.0), Bentley Dums in 54th place (24:01.2) and Brody Bunders in 57th place (24:55).

 

The girls race featured the Hornets in fifth place as a team with 136 points while the Hawks finished in ninth place/13 teams with 210 points. 

 

The leading finisher from these two teams was Wauzeka-Steuben senior Natalie Wright, who finished in 16th place in a time of 23:19. Wright was followed by teammate Isabella Bunders in 18th place in a time of 23:26. Leading the way for the Hawks was Karly Kramer in 20th place in a time of 23:29. She was followed by Kennady Fradette in 29th place (24:43),  Kaylie Schnitzler in 51st place (28:12), Mairany Morales in 54th place (28:22:), Autumn Ziegler in 56th place (27:07) and Katelyn Mathies in 66th place (34:11). Running on JV was Lyla Redman (19th place in 31:36) and Mya Mahr (21st place in 31:49).

 

Hornet girls placing after Bunders included Alayna Martin in 22nd place (23:44), Emma Udelhoven in 33rd place (25:11), Mallory McCullick in 47th place (27:32), Leah Peralta in 49th place (27:47) and Ellah Jones in 57th place (29:34). Running on JV for the Hornets was Abby Wright in fourth place (26:58), Brynnlee Benoy in 11th place (28:45), Stella Walz in 13th place (29:52), Avery Kilburg in 16th place (30:19) and Brianna Ray in 17th place (30:25).

 

Wauzeka-Steuben finished their week two days later at the Fennimore Relays with the boys team placing 11th out of 15 teams with a combined time of 110:48.8 and the girls team finishing in sixth place out of 14 teams in a combined time of 128:55.0. Running for the Hornet boys were Reed-Mullikin (19:54), Wagner (21:17), Mullikin (21:18), Millin (24:04) and Dums (24:13). The Hornet girls featured N. Wright (24:53), I. Bunders (24:58), Martin (25:13), Udelhoven (26:09), McCullick (27:40), Peralta (27:45) and Kilburg (31:41). Running in the JV race for the Hornets was Walz (27:51) and Ray (30:45).

 

Wauzeka-Steuben heads to the Kickapoo/La Farge Invitational this Thursday, Oct. 2, while Prairie du Chien will travel to Platteville on Saturday, Oct. 4 for the Dick McKichan Invitational at Platteville High School.
