Clayton County has begun reviewing applications for the environment health and zoning administrator, after Patti Ruff left the position.
The position is under the direction of both the Clayton County Board of Health and the Board of Supervisors. The role is responsible for performing work related to environment health and zoning regulations.
The health components of the role include testing water quality, private sewage systems and conducting inspections of pools/spas, tanning facilities and tattoo facilities.
The zoning components include interpretation and enforcement of land use regulations.
To maintain continuity of service for the period until the position is filled, the county supervisors approved 28E agreements with Fayette County for environmental health services and Black Hawk County for the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing for pools, spas and tattoo parlors.
Most health and zoning applications can be initiated online at the county’s website. For now, questions related to zoning can be directed to Peggy Lane in the auditor’s office and questions related to environmental health can be directed to Tammy Klingman in the assessor’s office.
While the county staff is working to minimize service disruption, delays may occur depending on application volume and availability for testing.
