The 2025 season began last Thursday, August 28 for the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets when the Cassville Comets made the trek north for the non-conference contest. The contest also marked the debut of new Hornets head coach Jaci Williams. The visiting Comets started the match strong, winning the first set 25-19. That was the only set the visitors were able to win as the Hornets stormed right back to win each of the next three sets (25-14, 25-19, 25-11) to earn the match victory 3-1 over the Comets.
The Hornets traveled to Highland on Saturday, August 30 for a jamboree featuring mostly Six Rivers Conference teams. Complete results were not available as of press time but the Hornets did earn a 2-0 match win over River Ridge with set wins of 25-19 and 25-18.
Wauzeka-Steuben steps back into Ridge & Valley Conference this Thursday night when they host De Soto at 7:15 p.m.
