September 26, 1939 - May 25, 2025

Ronald J. White, age 85, of rural Bridgeport, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 25, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Seneca on Sept. 26, 1939, to Francis and Evelyn (Steffen) White. Ron grew up in Seneca, Platteville and Prairie du Chien, graduating from Prairie du Chien High School. He worked hard and often on the family farm. He left home at 18 doing road construction, but his passion for cattle never left him. Ron returned to the Prairie du Chien area, marrying Karen Polodna and raising their four children. He started his own business, Ron White Livestock. Together with his sons, Curt and Jeff, with the belief in hard work and dedication to doing the right things with the right attitude, Ron became a successful cattle buyer in the area. Ron was a proud man with a strong sense of honor and fairness. He was always willing to help others in need. Ron took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved all unconditionally and was a man who would do anything for his family. Besides his work, Ron’s greatest enjoyment came from the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Ron’s life and how he lived is a testimony to the idea that a strong man can also be a kind man.

He is survived by his four children, Curt (Brenda) White, Jeff (Vicki) White, Barb (Jon) Bowar and Chris (Tim) Budden; 12 grandchildren, Ronnie, Megan, Taylor, Katie, Nicole, Bryce, Bryan, Nate, Ashley, Lexi, Courtney and Brad; 11 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Oliver, Emersyn, Brecken, Harper, Camden, Vera, Layla, Zoey, Bennet and Azriel, with three more great-grandchildren on the way; and his brother, Patrick (Cindy) White. He is preceded in death by his wife Karen; parents Francis and Evelyn; brothers Robert and Roger; and sister Roberta.

Memorial Mass of Resurrection was May 31, at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating, with private inurnment in the Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Catholic Schools in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
