The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks softball team wrapped up their 2025 season last Wednesday, May 21 by hosting SWC champ Dodgeville. The Dodgers entered the game with a conference record of 8-1, two games ahead of the Hawks at 6-3. Despite the game not having any impact on the championship, the Hawks still entered the matchup looking for revenge for their last conference loss - a 16-13 loss at Dodgeville on May 5th.

The Hawks took an early 2-0 lead with runs in the first and second inning before the Dodgers took a brief lead with three runs in the top of the third inning. Prairie du Chien responded with a run of their own in the bottom of third to make the score 3-3. Following a quick 1-2-3 top of the fourth inning by Dodgeville, the Hawks retook the lead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 5-3. Prairie du Chien would score one run in the sixth to increase their lead to three runs as they held the Dodgers scoreless the final four innings of the game for the 6-3 victory.

Irelynd Cejka led the Hawks offense by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two runs scored and one RBI. Claire Kennedy (2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI) and Bailey Halvorson (2-for-3 with one run scored) also had multiple hits in the game, while April Smith doubled for the Hawks second extra base hit of the game.

Kennedy earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched. Prairie du Chien finishes the regular season with an overall record of 17-7 and a SWC record of 8-2, one game behind champion Dodgeville.

Prairie du Chien hosted Viroqua/Youth Initiative this past Tuesday evening in a D3 regional semifinal game with the winner advancing to Thursday’s regional final.
