River Ridge ups win streak to six

Coach Andrew Redman’s River Ridge baseball squad is on a hot streak as of late, winning six conference games in a row since suffering a loss to Barneveld back on April 14.
The Timberwolves began their latest three-game conference stretch last Tuesday night at Highland, where they handed the host Cardinals a 3-2 loss.
River Ridge managed seven hits to their opponent’s four, getting two each from Cael Koenig and Aaren Bedward.
It was Highland getting on the board first with one run in the bottom of the first inning, with River Ridge tying it up in the top of the third on an RBI single by Bedward to score Kam Reynolds.
The Cardinals retook the lead in the bottom half of the third with another run, then saw River Ridge score two in the top of the fourth on a one-run single by Blake Reynolds and a ground out by Ty Adrian.
With neither team scoring in the final three innings, the Timberwolves held on for the victory.
Blake Reynolds collected the win on the mound, giving up two earned runs off four hits in six innings of work. In that time he also struck out six batters and walked three before being relieved by Carter Copsey to begin the seventh.
Last Thursday night the Timberwolves traveled to Argyle, where they breezed by the co-op squad of Argyle/Black Hawk, 12-1 in a shortened six-inning contest.
On the mound, Koenig threw a six-inning no hitter for the Timberwolves, while striking out 12 batters and walking five. The one run given up was unearned and scored on a passed ball after the runner had been hit by a pitch.
The Timberwolves pounded out 12 hits in the victory, getting a team-high three from Koenig, who also had a team-high four RBIs, which included a pair of two-run doubles in the second and third innings.
Contributing two hits each for the Timberwolves were Carter Copsey, Andrew Nies and Noah Copsey, Nies also scoring three runs to go along with three RBIs on a one-run double in the second and a two-run single in the third.
On the following Friday night, coach Redman’s Timberwolves cruised passed their visitors from Monticello/Albany in a shutout 10-0 conference victory.
River Ridge used nine hits to score 10 runs in a shortened five-inning contest, while limiting their opponent to just four hits.
Carter Copsey and Cael Koenig led the Timberwolves with two hits each, Koenig also with a team-high three RBIs to Copsey’s two.
Koenig pick up his three RBIs on a one-run triple in the first inning and a two-run single in the fourth, while Copsey picked up one RBI on a fielder’s choice in the fourth and a one-run single in the fifth.
Brandon Davis also picked up two RBIs on no hits, getting one on a ground out in the first inning and the other on fielder’s choice in the third. Blake Reynolds and had one RBI on a double in the fourth, while Ty Adrian had an RBI double in the fifth.
On the mound, Carter Copsey picked up the win after limiting Monticello/Albany to no runs off four hits in four innings of work. In that time he also struck out six batters and walked one before being replaced by Adrian to begin the fifth.
