The Prairie du Chien/Seneca girls soccer team earned a pair of victories to start the conference season 2-0, joining River Valley as the only two undefeated teams in SWC competition.

This past week started with the Hawks traveling to Galena on Tuesday, April 15 to take on the Galena/East Dubuque co-op and PdC came back with a 3-0 shutout.

The Hawks were back at home two nights later to host Richland Center on Parents Night. The figurative fireworks began for the Hawks just 53 seconds into the game, when senior Jasmine Olmstead delivered a shot over the Richland Center goal keeper’s head into the corner of the goal for the first score of the match. The Hawks were just warming up as fellow senior Tessa Czajkowski Higgins followed Olmstead’s lead by scoring three times before halftime to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Hawks. Shortly before intermission, Prairie du Chien got another goal from a senior in Allison Mathies on a leaping header into the net as the Hawks went up 5-0 at the break.

Czajkowski Higgins would score three more times in the second half, finishing the match with six goals.

The last goal made the score 8-0 in favor of PdC and ended the match at 60 minutes.

The Hawks improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SWC with the win. Prairie du Chien began a big week this past Monday night when they traveled to Platteville for a battle with the Platteville/Lancaster co-op before the Hawks travel to Spring Green on April 24 for a key SWC showdown.
