October 18, 1943–February 12, 2025

Geezer Suelflow, 81, of Prairie du Chien, died on Feb. 12, 2025, at the Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse.

He was born on October 18, 1943, in Mequon, to Edward and Mary (Mittag) Suelflow. He met Jacqueline (Whiteaker) Suelflow on Valentine’s Day in 1982, and they married on Oct. 26, 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, of Prairie du Chien; his daughter Brenda Nielson, of Jackson; his son Chad Suelflow, of Pembine; two step-sons, Mark Whiteaker, of Prairie du Chien, and Michael Whiteaker, of Holmen; three sisters, Marie Ernst, of Jackson, Millie Komenda, of Versailles, Mo.; and Joyce (Franklin) Kamorowski, of Oxford; numerous nieces and nephews; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Geezer was employed at Trane Technologies in La Crosse for 15 years, where he worked as a welder.

As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always knew where the fish were biting.  Geezer made and sold fishing poles and is known to many for his homemade can covers.

Geezer truly enjoyed little kids; he was a grandpa to all of them. With that said, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He spoiled them with candy and treats when they were little and in other ways when they got older. He even gave many of the children in the family their own special nickname. Somehow, that name seemed to be fitting for each one of them. When his grandchildren came to visit, we all got to see Geezer’s best side.

Geezer was preceded in death by his parents, his son Craig Suelflow, his stepson Scott Whiteaker, four brothers and eight sisters.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his granddaughter Sara (known as Bullhead to Geezer), for being his caregiver in his last months. She was at the house every morning and evening doing whatever was needed to make Grandpa more comfortable.

The family would also like to give a special thank you to Duane Burgess for driving Geezer to most of his doctor appointments in La Crosse. There were times Duane made two trips to La Crosse in the same day, with only a moment’s notice.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Geezer at the Eagles Club in Prairie du Chien on March 8, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m.
