MFL MarMac 1-2 in week of duals

The MFL MarMac boys wrestling team went 1-2 in duals last week, putting their season record at 7-3. 

 

In a Dec. 10 triangular at Beckman Catholic, the Bulldogs defeated the host team 48-24. Making a return to the lineup, senior Keith Anderson pinned his 132-pound opponent. Quinn McGeough (165), Caleb Zuercher (190), Will Howes (285), Tacoma Thompson (113) and Gavin Kishman (138) also secured falls.  Dracen Howe (215) and Brandon Eaton (126) won by forfeit.

 

Kase Paulus was pinned in his match at 157 pounds, as was Austin Schaller at 175 and Rylan Schroeder at 144. MFL MarMac forfeited at 150 pounds, and there were double forfeits at 106 and 120.

 

The second dual of the night was a tough one for the Bulldogs, who lost to Lisbon 62-15. McGeough battled to a 20-16 decision win at 165 pounds, and Howes and Schroeder both pinned their opponents.

 

Paulus, Schaller, Zuercher, Howe, Eaton and Anderson lost by fall, while Thompson dropped his 113-pound match by 15-3 major decision and Kishman lost by 16-3 major decision at 138. Lisbon earned more points due to MFL MarMac forfeits at 106, 120 and 150.

 

The Bulldogs closed out the week in a close 42-39 loss to Lancaster, Wis. MFL MarMac came out on top in seven matches, including falls by Anderson, Kishman, Schroeder, Ty Koeller (150), McGeough and Howes. Thompson won his bout by 8-7 decision.

 

The Arrows earned falls over John Martins (157), Schaller, Zuercher and Howe. They also benefitted from three MFL MarMac forfeits at 106, 120 and 126 pounds. 

 

The Bulldogs added duals to their schedule this week, hosting Bellevue, Maquoketa Valley and Midland on Dec. 17. They’ll head to the Regina Invitational on Dec. 21, before heading to winter break.
