Betty J. Cejka

Betty J. Cejka, age 95 of Prairie du Chien, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.
Betty was born May 6, 1929, in the township of Mt. Ida to William and Juanita (McGraw) Howell.
Betty graduated from Fennimore High School and later married Robert Cejka on April 21, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore. Together, they moved to Prairie du Chien where they raised six children.
Betty worked for the 3M Company in Prairie du Chien for many years until retirement.
She was an active member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary in Prairie du Chien and also enjoyed being a member of the famed “Ding-A-Ling’s.” Betty loved bowling and did so competitively for over 40 years.
Betty also loved playing cards with family and friends and going dancing. She always looked forward to family gatherings whether it be holidays or birthdays or just getting together to talk, laugh, and enjoy each other. She was a wonderful mother and grandma, and she will be deeply missed. Her husband of 49 years, Robert, preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1996.
She is survived by two sons Thomas (Karen) and John (Penny) Cejka, both of Prairie du Chien; two daughters Charlene (Donald) Roh of Prairie du Chien and Deborah (Jerry) Austin of Fort Worth, TX; daughter-in-law Hazel Cejka; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons Terry and Bobby Cejka; threebrothers George, Lewis, and William Howell; three sisters Eleanor Chamberlain, Dorothy Schuller, and Kate Peterson; her grandson Brian and special friend James Cooley. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Crossing Rivers Health and Dr. Ruggles for their gracious and diligent care.
Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Friday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish. Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating with inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.
Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4–7 p.m., where there will be an Eagle’s Club Auxiliary tribute at 7 p.m., and also an hour prior to the Mass of Friday. www.garrityfuneralhome.com
