Karen K. Kennicker

Karen K. Kennicker, 83, of Millville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg. Visitation was before services at the church.
Inurnment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Guttenberg.
Karen was born on Jan. 18, 1941, in Cassville, Wis., the daughter of Glenn and Gladys (Adrian) Orcutt. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to her “fweets” Gerald Kennicker on July 15, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg.
Karen was a devout farm wife and worked various jobs over the years including dietary manager at the Guttenberg Hospital. Karen also volunteered as a Stephen Minister, auxiliary member at the hospital, and resident advocate at the Guttenberg Care Center. She cared greatly for her family and spent numerous hours with her five grandchildren providing care and entertainment (her favorite was a rousing game of “Old Maid”). She enjoyed growing in her strong Catholic faith, as well as reading books, completing word searches, watching her homestead wildlife, and of course a good snack of popcorn.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gerald; her two children, Dan (Erlene) Kennicker, Sue (Rob) Andersen; five grandchildren, Willie Kennicker, Andy (Courtney K. & Aiden) Kennicker, Sam (Courtney G. & Weston) Kennicker, Megan Andersen, and Molly (Noah) Andersen; honorary grandchild, Lukas Vogt; sisters-in-law, Mary (Melvin) Barth, Florence Kennicker, Eileen Merfeld, Dorothy Kennicker, and Dorothy Crews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and parents in-law; sister, Glenda (Ray) Reinert; brothers-in-law, Ed, Ray, Lawerence, Leon, Frank, Clarence, and Leroy; sisters-in-law, Stella (Joseph) Bertjens, Marita (Sam) Etter, and Teresa (Robert) Hefel.
The family would like to give many thanks to the Guttenberg Hospital, St. Croix Hospice, and all her other care providers.
