December 6, 1935–September 8, 2024

Lois Catherine Hullermann, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday Sept. 8, 2024, at her home. She was born on Dec. 6, 1935; the daughter of Emmert and Dorothy (Lappe) Reth. Lois graduated from Lamont High School in Iowa in 1953 and married Thomas Hullermann on June 4, 1955.

Lois and Tom owned and operated their family farm, located near Patch Grove, for many years. Lois worked alongside Tom and their children on the beef farm and could usually be found driving the tractor. Raising her family on the farm was something Lois was very proud of and instilled her hard work ethic in each of her children. She was always so grateful that her children, and now grandchildren, chose to keep the family farm running. In addition to working the farm, Lois also owned and operated Napps Motel in Fennimore from 1993 to 2002. Lois had a very strong faith. She often volunteered her time in the Adoration Chapel and serving funeral luncheons at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore, where she never missed an opportunity to attend Mass.

In her younger years, Lois enjoyed reading and embroidery. She was a wonderful cook and an avid baker. She was especially known for the various breads she baked and made many wedding cakes over the years. She even baked a wedding cake for each of her children’s weddings. Lois passed on her love for baking to her children and grandchildren, who will continue to treasure her recipes. Lois enjoyed travelling and looked forward to many bus trips over the years, especially her trips to Branson, Missouri, where she enjoyed the many music performances. Lois loved her family dearly and treasured any moment she had to spend with her children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by three children: Dianne (Fred) Skemp, LouAnn (Butch) Horsfall, and Mark (Tina) Hullermann; daughter in-law, Lori Hullermann; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; and her sister, Wilma Olsem. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Tom; parents; two sons, Mike Hullermann and Bill Hullermann; and sisters, Jeanette German and Jo Ann Koch.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.

Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. A visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday, in the church hall. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family. For online condolences, please visit: www.larsonfuneralhomes.com.
