By Derick Kelly
The Seneca Royals Cross Country had their first competition of the season last Tuesday at the Wauzeka-Steuben Invitational at the Krachey-Hird Fields.
Despite not having enough runners for a complete team, the Royals did well individually. Leading the way for Seneca was senior Gabriel Hamann, who placed 10th in a time of 21:07.
Fellow senior Jaren Grimsled was not too far behind Hamann in 13th place in a time of 21:53.
Thomas Caya, the third senior on the team, finished in 21st place in a time of 24:24. Rounding things out for the Royals was sophomore newcomer Grant Sime, who was 35th in a time of 31:18.
The Royals were back in action at last night’s Ryan Zimpel Memorial Cross Country Meet in Boscobel and will next travel to Soldiers Grove for the North Crawford Invitational on Tuesday, September 17 at 5 p.m.
