Phyllis Jean Montour, 76, passed away on June 18, 2024.

 

Phyllis was born on Sept. 16, 1947 to Donald and Joyce Hinman Montour in Postville. She received her education at MFL and graduated in 1965. She married Thomas Rocksvold on Jan. 30, 1966. To this marriage two children were born, Tiffany and Erik. They later divorced in 1974. Phyllis attended Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, where she studied to be a computer programmer. She moved to Grimes and worked at the Financial Information Trust.

 

Phyllis love growing up on a farm in rural Clayton County. She had a passion for horses and especially loved her pony Prince. Later in life, Phyllis spent many years compiling a genealogical history of her family. Whenever we would have a family reunion, Phyllis would be the organizer of those events.

 

Phyllis was a loving and caring person and devoted to her family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her mother, Joyce Montour; brother, Gregory Montour; children, Tiffany (John) Petermeier and Erik Rocksvold; grandchildren, Jake (Cinda) Petermeier and Dan (Ashley) Petermeier; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Colton. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Montour, and infant brother, Douglas Montour.

 

Phyllis will be cremated and there will be a family service for her at the city cemetery in Monona.
