Robert H. Dohse
Robert H. Dohse, 94, of Garnavillo, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Tower Living Center in Garnavillo.
Visitation was Saturday, June 1, at Morris Funeral Home in Garnavillo.
Funeral services and burial followed the visitation at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton.
Robert was born on Dec. 14, 1929, the son of Doris and Lin Dohse. He had a stepfather from the age of one, Ray Dresden, and a brother who died at the age of six months. He married Iris May Frye on Jan. 28, 1950. Together, they raised three loving children, Kevin, Mark, and Linda. Later, he and Iris owned and operated Clayton Lighthouse for many years. They also owned Riverview bar in Lynxville, Wis.
Bob was mechanically aptitude and always a good handyman. He took care of the many customers out front at the bar, and met many friends along the way. He always offered a helping hand to those who needed it.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with Iris. They were never far apart. They spent time fishing, traveling, and working the restaurants together, side by side.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Dohse of Soldiers Grove, Wis.; son-in-law, Ron Caspersen of Garnavillo; grandchildren, Tyson (Jessica) Dohse, Shivhan (Drew) Dohse Morton, Jeremy Dohse, Shelly (Caspersen) Mack, Steve “Brandon” (Arieal) Link, Chris (Kim) Dohse; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Jordan, Braedyn, Tyler, Alexander, Keylee, Kylee, Adrian, Paisley; in-laws, Gerald (Marilyn) Frye, Eleanor Soulli, Rolland (Madonna) Frye, and Jim Sandin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris on March 29, 2024; his parents and step-dad; parents-in-law, John and Lucille Frye; son, Mark Dohse; daughter, Linda (Dohse) Caspersen; and a great-grandson, Matthew Crary; in-laws, Frances Kruse, Betty Stickfort, Lyle Frye, Kenny Frye, and Geraldine Sandin.
