Hawks beat Westby to reach regional final, lose to second ranked La Crosse Aquinas
The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks defeated the Westby Norseman 7-3 in a WIAA Regional Semifinal game in Westby on Tuesday, May 28.
The Blackhawks got the most out of their 7 hits and 6 walks to score 1 run in the second inning, 4 in the fifth and 2 more in the seventh. Bryce Lenzendorf and Dawson Eastman each had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Noah Pedretti and Abe Amundson each had a single. Westin Marx had a home run in the second inning that really turned the tide for the Blackhawks.
Logan Kiesau got the win for PdC. Kiesau threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 2. Abe Amundson pitched the last 2 innings and struck out 4 while not allowing a run.
PdC improved to 14-8 on the season and advanced to the WIAA D3 Regional Finals on Wednesday, May 29th at La Crosse Aquinas.
The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks season came to an end with an 11-1 loss in five innings to La Crosse Aquinas last Wednesday night.
The only offensive highlight for the Blackhawks was a double by Westin Marx to lead off the third inning. He later scored on a passed ball to plate which was the Blackhawks only run of the game.
Three Blackhawk pitchers threw in the game. Hunter Jones started and went two innings and took the loss. Nick McCullick and Drake Ingham pitched the final three innings in relief.
The Blackhawks finished the season 14-9 overall and 6-4 in the SWC, good for second place in the conference.
