September 9, 1955-May 21, 2024

Lyle Garner David, age 68, of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was born on Sept. 9, 1955, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Lawrence David and LaVon Garner.

Lyle’s life was marked by his kindness, humor, and genuine compassion. He had a remarkable ability to form connections with everyone he met, making him a beloved figure in both his personal and professional circles. Lyle retired in 2020 after a 40-year career at WPS to enjoy his true passions. In his personal life, Lyle was an avid golfer, finding joy and relaxation on the green. He also enjoyed bowling and cherished the role of being a grandpa.

Lyle was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Peggy David; his parents, Lawrence and LaVon David; in-laws, Everette and Nancy Johnson; and nephew, Andrew Lipke. 

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Alex) Homb; his granddaughter, Olivia Homb; siblings, Larry (Kris), Lynn (John), Leslie (David), Layne (Susan), LuAnn (Dan), Lisa (Tom) and Lori (Simon); numerous nieces, nephews, other family and countless friends. 

Lyle’s legacy will live on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. 

A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at noon on Thursday, June 6. Burial will take place at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
