PdC Baseball start playoffs with 8-2 win over Mustangs

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks defeated Platteville 12-7 on Wednesday afternoon in the final SWC game of the season.

The Blackhawks had 12 hits in the victory. Bryce Lenzendorf led the Blackhawks with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Wes Marx had five RBIs including a two-run home run in the Blackhawks’ sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Noah Pedretti, Brady Lenzendorf, Keagan Dull, Drake Ingham, Dawson Eastman, Logan Kiesau, and Abe Amundson all had hits. Kiesau, Pedretti, and Brady Lenzendorf each hit doubles. Hunter Jones was hit by a pitch.

Nick McCullick got the win for the Blackhawks. McCullick pitched three innings giving up six hits and five earned runs while striking out two. Jack Simmons came in to relief for the final four innings. Simmons only allowed two hits and zero earned runs while striking out six.

The Blackhawks finished the 2024 regular season 12-8 and 6-4 in the SWC,  good for second place in the conference.

The Blackhawks defeated the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs 8-2 in the opening round of the WIAA Regional Tournament on Thursday in PdC.

Logan Kiesau pitched a gem for the Blackhawks for the victory. Kiesau pitched all seven innings, only allowing two hits and one earned run on two walks and seven strikeouts.

The offense was led by Dull and Amundson with three hits a piece. Dull had three RBIs while Amundson had two. Dull also had a double. Bryce Lenzendorf and Kiesau had two hits each. Dawson Eastman had a single and an RBI.

The Blackhawks advanced to the regional semifinal game at Westby on Tuesday, May 28. PdC is now 13-8 on the season.
