Five Area Athletes qualify for WIAA State Track Meet

Five area athletes, lead by two from Prairie du Chien, qualified last Thursday, May 23 for this week’s WIAA State Track Meet at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Qualifying in D2 for Prairie du Chien out of Thursday’s Sectional Meet at Portage High School were juniors Tannah Radloff (300 Meter Hurdles) and Blake Thiry (110 Meter Hurdles, 300 Meter Hurdles, Long Jump and Triple Jump).
Radloff placed second at the sectional meet in the 300 Meter Hurdles race in a time of 46.68 while Thiry placed first in the 110 Meter Hurdles (14.89), second in the 300 Meter Hurdles race (40.08) and theLong Jump (22-04.25) and third in the Boys Triple Jump (44-05.00). Thiry also broke his own school records in the 110 Meter Hurdles, the 300 Meter Hurdles and the Long Jump events during the meet.
Earning trips to the state meet at the D3 Bangor Sectional were River Ridge’s Shayna Graf (Discus and Shot Put), Seneca’s Tucker Stluka (300 Meter Hurdles) and Wauzeka-Steuben’s Lucius Cooley (110 Meter Hurdles, 300 Meter Hurdles, High Jump and Long Jump).
Graf placed first in the Shot Put (38-04.50) and third in the Discus (114-01), Stluka placed second in the 300 Meter Hurdles (41.51) and Cooley took first in the 110 Meter Hurdles (14.81), 300 Meter Hurdles (40.38) and second in the High Jump (6-03.00) and Triple Jump (21-03.00).
Division 2 and 3 competition begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and will continue Saturday morning at 9 :30 a.m.
