April 27, 1950 – May 20, 2024

Sally Jo Clark died peacefully and quietly, surrounded by loved ones on May 20.

This exit was in stark contrast to the way she lived; joyful, exuberant and full of life. She was known as a wonderful and loyal friend and sister. Staying up late into the early hours of the mornings talking and laughing was a favorite pastime of hers at family gatherings, or any gathering to be honest.

Always the last one to leave a party. And then return early to help clean it up. To her girls, she was known as the heartbeat, our center. She was apple crisps in the fall, popcorn cakes at birthdays, endless cups of coffee and with a side of laughter. She was an antique adventurer, a fort-building explorer and the definitive voice of encouragement. She was simply Mom.

She believed her girls could do and be anything, and the same for their circle of friends. Over many years she would help to craft and mould a number of young people, with the belief that they could go out into the world and change it.

She had just begun to do that with her grandchildren, whom she got such a kick out of. To them she was cards with money for ice cream, Christmas pajamas and never-ending games of Go Fish and Uno. She was simply MeeMa.

She met and married Larry Clark a lifetime ago, and they spent the better part of 50 years building a life together, creating lifelong friends together, cooking meals at home together, enjoying cocktails on the deck watching sunsets, together.

In her later years, they would enjoy their insomnia together. Forever roaming about the house in the moonlight together. To say she was his other half is to imply that you could tell where one began and the other ended. After so much time, it was almost impossible. So, her loss is felt most acutely by him. And yet we are grateful for the time, the years and days, and late evenings we all got to laugh with Sally Jo, or Mom or MeeMa. She will be forever carried in all our hearts.

And so, one last time we said goodbye, just how she said goodbye. “Bye, Sweeties.”

Per Sally's request, a private family service, will be held at a later date. The Kendall Funeral Service in Boscobel is assisting the family. Those wishing to send cards or memorials, can send them to Larry Clark at 58909 State Highway 171, Ferryville, Wisconsin 54628. Online condolences can be sent to www.kendallfuneralservice.com
