Hornets run win streak to six with pair of wins

Wauzeka-Steuben softball traveled to Seneca on Monday, May 13 looking to seal up an undefeated conference championship with a win over the Royals.
The Hornets got on the scoreboard first with one run in the first inning before adding two more in the third, six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth for the 12-0 win in five innings.
Wauzeka got home runs from Ally Wall (two of them) and Kylie Manning and a triple from Emma Wall in the win. Collecting multiple hits for the Hornets were E. Wall (4-for-4 with a double, triple, four runs scored and one RBI), A. Wall (3-for-3 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs) and Manning (2-for-4 with a double, a home run, one run scored and three RBIs). Cameron Hurda also added a double for the Hornets.
Ally Wall allowed zero runs on two hits and three walks with eight strikeouts in five innings to earn the win on the mound.
The Hornets ended the regular season three nights later by hosting Riverdale and W-S came away with a 4-0 win thanks to two runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth.
The Hornets were lead hitting wise by Brianna Ray (1-for-3 with a double, one run scored and one RBI), A. Wall (1-for-3 with a double, one run scored and one RBI), Liz Wright (1-for-3 with one RBI), Manning (1-for-3) and Morgan Berger (1-for-3).
The pitching duties were spread between Ray (zero runs on zero hits and one walk with four strike outs in three innings pitched), A. Wall (zero runs on zero hits and walks with three strikeouts in two innings pitched to earn the win) and Hurda (zero runs on one hit and no walks with three strikeouts in two innings pitched).
Wauzeka-Steuben improved to 18-2 overall and 12-0 in the Ridge & Valley Conference with the two victories.
The Hornets began postseason play on Wednesday, May 22 by traveling to fourth seed Juda/Albany for a D5 regional semifinal matchup.
