River Ridge one-hit by Argyle/Black Hawk

Limited to just one hit, coach Andrew Redman’s River Ridge baseball team fell to host Argyle/Black Hawk last Friday night, 3-1.
The loss dropped the Timberwolves to a Six Rivers West conference record of 4-6 and an overall mark of 5-10 heading into this past Tuesday night’s meeting with Potosi/Cassville.
River Ridge’s only hit and only run both came in the top of the fifth inning, where junior centerfielder Andrew Nies had a lead-off single and later scored on a passed ball.
Against Argyle/Black Hawk pitcher Max Godfrey, the Timberwolves struck out 17 times and drew one walk.
Junior Carter Copsey pitched all six inning for the Timberwolves, giving up three earned runs off eight hits, while striking out 11 batters and walking just one.
Following this past Tuesday night’s road game at Potosi/Cassville, the Timberwolves travel to Belmont Thursday night, then host Boscobel on Tuesday, May 21, to conclude the regular season. WIAA regional action begins on Thursday, May 23.
