School board rescinds resignation
At the Prairie du Chien Board of Education’s April 29 special meeting, the atmosphere was lighter than usual among the board members.
They had a good reason: High School Principal Doug Morris asked the board to rescind his resignation.
“I love it here, as you’ve seen. We’ve made some progress; it’s a job left half-done at this point. We’ve got some work to do, but I think we’re heading in the right direction,” said Morris.
Morris proffered his resignation for June 30. His announcement was the first of several administrative resignations in the district over the past two months, including the high school assistant principal and the middle school principal.
But situations change. New circumstances arise. And Morris isn’t ready to leave; there’s still work to do.
“As I’ve told you all from the get-go, I love it here,” said Morris. “I wish I had moved up here 25 years ago. We have amazing students, we have phenomenal staff and I think we have things going in the right direction.”
After a short discussion in close session, the board rescinded Morris’ resignation; the high school still has a principal.
