Against the likes of Iowa-Grant, De Soto, Wauzeka-Steuben and a pair of scaled down Platteville squads, the River Ridge boys and girls track and field teams dominated the Timberwolf Invite held last Thursday evening on their home track.

With 217.5 total points, the River Ridge girls finished 109.5 points ahead of second-place De Soto, while the River Ridge boys scored 173 points, 42 points ahead of second-place Iowa-Grant.

Pacing the River Ridge girls on Thursday night were freshman Leah Patterson and senior Shayna Graf.

Patterson earned first-place finishes in the 1600 (6:02.82) and the 3200 (16:00.28), while also placing third in the 800 (2:48.83), while Graf took first in the shot put (33’3”) and discus (116’0”).

Other first-place finishes included Reghan Zinkle in the 300 hurdles (:56.40) and Lydia Mason in the high jump (4’6”), while the 4x200 relay team (1:57.98) of Melissa Sletten, McKenzie Taylor, Saige Childs and Alaina Clark also brought home a first-place finish.

The River Ridge boys got first-place finishes from Elliott Thornton in the discus (144’0”), Matthew Nies in the triple jump (39’1.5”) and Luke Breuer in the pole vault (11’3”). Nies also placed second in the high jump (5’8”), while Thornton was second in the triple jump (37’3.75”).

Following this past Monday night’s meet at Fennimore, the Timberwolves will next compete at Hazel Green Thursday evening and then at Spring Green on Friday.
