Milton M. Ellis

Milton M. Ellis, age 86 of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Patch Grove, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien.
He was born in Millville, Wisc., on November 14, 1937, the son of Donald and Tossie (Arnett) Ellis.
He graduated from Patch Grove High School with the class of 1956. He worked as a carpenter with his father, Donald, and Brother Jerry Ellis. With Walz’s Lumber Company, the Ellis boys were well known for their skillful woodwork.
Milton married Lavonne Esser on May 11, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in Bagley. Milton and Lavonne raised their three children in Patch Grove.
Milton volunteered with the Patch Grove Fire Department for over 40 years. After retirement from carpentry, he went back to work for Monona Wire for eight years. Milton moved with his wife to Prairie du Chien in 2002.
He enjoyed cribbage, horseshoes, and making people laugh with his jokes. He also enjoyed polka music, playing his guitar and harmonica and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Lavonne; their children Darcy (Forest Jackley) Ellis-Moore, Vicky (Andre Keller) Ellis, and Todd (Kristie Shaffer) Ellis; grandchildren Krystal (Chris) Kirschbaum, Adam Moore, Evan Moore, Lisa (Mike) Jakubowski, Matt Mulrooney and Gunnar Ellis; great-grandchildren Amber (Garrett) Millin, Rylan, Aleena Kirschbaum, Sloan and Milo Jakubowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Ellis.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Brodtville Cemetery in Wyalusing Township. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
