January 19, 1935–March 31, 2024

 

Ida R. Ward, age 89 of Benton and formerly of Boscobel and Crawford County Wisconsin, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at her daughter's home in Benton, surrounded by her family.  

She was born January 19, 1935 in Marshall Township in Richland County.  The daughter of Herbert and Clara (Craig) Haines. 

Ida worked for several years at Advance Transformer in Boscobel. She was a volunteer driver for the VA Medical Center inTomah for 4 years (1521 hours of service). 

Ida never missed a chance to bake or donate something to any family or any organization in need. She got her GED in June of 2011, at the age of 76. 

Ida is survived by her children, Andy (Sheryl) Ward, of Madison; Randy Ward, of Fox Lake, Ill.; Marsha (Jeff) Everson, of Waukesha; Beverly (Clifford) Hitz, of Hazel Green; Anita (George) Wachuta, of Brooklyn, Wisc.; and Nancy (Jeff) Wetter, of Benton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandaughter; one brother, Art (Sandy) Haines, of Sheridan Wy; two sisters, Ruby Hay, of Beloit, and Darlene (Christopher) Girton, of Apache Junction, Ariz; and a sister-in-law, Sherrie Haines, of Janesville.  

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; a son,  Micheal Ross Ward; four brothers, Harley, Bernard, Thomas and Terry Haines; and two sisters, Ruth Hogan and Linda McCullick.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 20, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., with a service at 12:30 p.m. at the Boscobel Bowl and Banquet in Boscobel, with lunch to follow. Jamie Haines will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Boscobel Cemetery. In keeping with Ida’s request for no flowers, memorials may be given to the Eastman Fire Department or Eastman Community Club.
