Douglas John Dittmer, 53, of Elkader, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at his home. Doug was born in Elkader on Oct. 26, 1970, to John “Jack” and Darlene (Dougherty) Dittmer.

 

He graduated from Central High School with the class of 1990. Following graduation, he worked at Browns Sales and Leasing detailing cars and at Wilke’s Grocery Store.

 

NASCAR, Green Bay Packers, demolition derbies, going to the hole, going on road trips and appointments with his wife and spending time with friends and step-grandson Elijah were some favorites.

 

Survivors include his wife, Jill of Elkader; daughter, Erin Dittmer Hauser of Elkader; mother, Darlene of Elkader; stepson, Christian Krambeer of Cresco; step-grandson, Elijah; sisters, Lisa (Kevin) Ihde of St. Olaf and Jan (John) Garms of North Liberty; several nieces, a nephew and many friends.

 

Doug was preceded in death by his father Jack on May 31, 2014 and his wife Lylina on Oct. 18, 2019.

 

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial were on April 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader, with Rev. John Haugen presiding. Inurnment was at Mederville Cemetery, Mederville.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family.
