Elmer L. “Topper” Valley Jr., age 74 of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on Feb. 20, 1950, the son of Elmer and Evalou (Crawford) Valley Sr. Elmer was raised in Prairie du Chien attending school at St. Gabriel’s and eventually graduating from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1968. 

Elmer married Patricia “Patty” Mezera on July 6, 1968, in Prairie du Chien, and together they raised two children. Elmer worked for the 3M Company in Prairie du Chien for 36 years until retirement. 

He enjoyed playing softball, darts, horseshoes, and bowling. He especially loved his grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Bumpa”. 

Elmer is survived by his wife of 55 years Patty; their children Lisa (Donald) Lynn and Todd (Vicki) Valley Sr.; siblings Joe (Betty) Valley and Anna Eastman and half-sister Carole Stewart; grandchildren Treavor (Alexandra) Russell, Allison (Owen Post) Lynn, Todd (Kelly) Valley Jr., and Trina (Kenny) Larson; and great-grandchildren Lucinda, Mason, Myles, Maverick, Charlie, Dustin, Jason, and one on the way. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Lorraine Siegenthaler and Nancy Johnson, and brother Jim Kelly. 

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Andy Doll officiated with private inurnment at a later date. www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
