Todd Michael Godden, 77 of Elkader, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was born Oct. 18, 1946, to Theodore “Ted” and Edith (Fairweather) Godden in Edgewood. Todd graduated from Central High School and proudly joined and served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany.

 

Todd was married to Jeanne Dettman, and one son was born to this union. They later divorced. Throughout the years, Todd worked at Polaris Plating, McTaggart Furniture and tended bar at Gene’s Place in Waukon. He most recently worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon. He loved fishing, playing euchre and mushroom hunting. Todd was confirmed at First Congregational Church in Elkader, where he remained a member.

 

Surviving Todd are his son, Ky Godden of Decorah; brother, Ted Godden of Aplington; niece, Renee Grace; three great nieces and nephews, Dion Grace, Alexia Sady and Noah Sady; and one great-great-nephew, Keneen Sady. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Edith Godden, and sister, Sally Godden.

 

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 22, at First Congregational Church in Elkader, with Pastor Linda Hauschild as the officiant.

 

Inurnment with military rites will be held at Eastside Cemetery in Elkader.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family with services.
