Wauzeka-Steuben girls fend off R & V conference challenger Kickapoo 48-43

The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornet girls basketball team opened up 2024 with an important game in the Ridge and Valley Conference as the first place Hornets hosted the second place Kickapoo Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 11.
The Hornets opened up the game by taking a 28-18 halftime lead on the visitors from Viola. The Panthers came out strong in the second half as they outscored the Hornets 25-20 but the host Hornets were able to hold off the Panthers and claim a 48-43 victory.
Wauzeka-Steuben improved to 9-1 overall, and 6-0 in the conference, while Kickapoo fell to 11-5 overall, and 4-2 in the conference.
The Hornets traveled to Cassville on Monday night to take on Potosi/Cassville before they travel to North Crawford on Thursday, Jan. 18.
