Bachman tops podium at Cascade

Three MFL MarMac wrestlers placed sixth or better at the Jan. 11 Cascade Girls Invitational.

 

Mackenzie Bachman pinned her way to first place in the 125-pound bracket. By winning all four of her matches, Bachman improved to 31-8 this season. 

 

Audrey Ruff took fourth at 170 pounds. She earned a fall and 6-4 decision in her first two matches, before getting pinned in the semifinal and third-place bouts.

 

At 135 pounds, Bayleigh Wood made it through the consolation semifinals due to medical forfeit, then was pinned in a tough fifth-place match. She finished sixth.

 

After losing her first match at 130 pounds, Amelya Weigand earned a bye into consolation round two, where she secured a fall in 41 seconds. A major decision loss in the next match, however, prevented her from advancing past the consolation semis, and she did not place.

 

Brooke Donlon also did not place after getting pinned twice in her 110-pound matches.

 

The Bulldogs will compete in a tournament at East Buchanan on Jan. 19, their last before the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union regional/state qualifier on Jan. 26.
