NC/S wrestlers attend Lee Griffin Invite

The North Crawford/Seneca wrestling team traveled to the annual Lee Griffin Invitational at Kickapoo High School on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Trojans only had two wrestlers compete as the team placed 12th with 38 points but they did manage to brink back a champion and a runner-up.

Leading the way was Jaren Grimsled who upped his season record to 26-3 with a 3-0 performance in the 106/113 bracket. All three wins came via pinfall - in 0:58 over Kickapoo-La Farge’s Tristan Hughes, in 1:12 over  Onalaska’s Gage Rademaker, and 1:26 over Onalaska’s Michael Campbell.

Earning a runner-up finish at 144 pounds for NC/S was Thomas Sprosty, who went 2-1 to improve his season record 17-8. Sprosty pinned Onalaska’s Carter Beeler in 2:35, and Westby’s Aiden Christianson in 0:32 to reach the championship match and a meeting with Iowa-Grant/Highland’s Jackson McGuire. Sprosty  was pinned by McGuire in 1:43 as McGuire to improve to 12-1 with the win.

North Crawford/Seneca will travel to Monona, Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 13 for the annual MFL MarMac Invitational.
