The Prairie du Chien girls basketball team used their holiday break to travel to Winona State University on Friday,  Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30 for two non-conference games as part of the annual Lewiston Auto Holiday Classic.

The Hawks took on the Chatfield (MN) Gophers in their first game on Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. After a back-and-forth first half, the Hawks went on an 11-4  run in the final 6:10 of the half to lead 35-28 at the break.

The second half was controlled by PdC as the Hawks outscored the Gophers 30-20 to earn a 65-48 victory.

The Hawks returned to McCown Gymasium on Saturday morning to take on the Winona Cotter Ramblers with the Ramblers turning back the Hawks by a score of 66-48. The Hawks fell to 7-4 overall with the loss.

Following last night’s home contest with Fennimore, the Hawks will travel to Lancaster on Thursday, Jan. 4 before heading back out of conference action  on Saturday, Jan. 6 when they travel to Mineral Point to take on the Pointers.
