The Prairie du Chien boys basketball team traveled to Winona State University last week looking to build off their first two victories of the season from the week prior.
For the first half of the Hawks game against Dover-Eyota, Minn on Friday, Dec. 29, it looked like that’s what was going to happen as PdC took a 41-35 lead into halftime on the Eagles.
However it was a different story in the second half as the Eagles continued their torrid shooting from behind the three-point line as they quickly turned a halftime deficit into a double-digit lead.
PdC didn’t allow D-E to build their lead to larger than 14, but the Hawks were also unable to cut the lead to smaller than seven for the rest of the game as Dover-Eyota earned a 89-79 victory.
The Hawks took on the Winona Cotter Ramblers the next day looking to salvage the event with a 1-1 record. The Ramblers had other plans though as they defeated the Hawks 61-49 to send Prairie home 0-2 in the event and 2-7 on the season.
The Hawks hosted Fennimore on Tuesday night before getting back to conference play on Friday, Jan. 6 when conference leader Platteville comes to town.
